Katie Shull- Children's Ministries
Role: Director of Children & Young Families
On MPC Staff Since: January 2014 (interned 2010-2012)
Describe your primary responsibilities at Malibu Pacific Church: I lead, create, and teach Sunday School for all ages: nursery, preschool, and young elementary schoolers. I oversee all children's volunteers, and I love to watch them grow as leaders. I plan the annual Father Daughter Valentine Dance (February) and Malibu Kids Camp (June). I lead our Malibu MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group, which meets monthly. I also sing and play the ukulele at MPNS for JAM time (Jesus and Me Time) twice a week:).
Tell us about your family: My family consists of my husband Reese (you can catch him helping with the babies most Sundays), who is finishing his doctorate in Physical Therapy. Our life currently revolves around our toddler, Kadence Joy, who is the goofiest and most joyful little girl! We also love our crazy weiner dog Dash.
What do you like to do for fun? I love musicals, and if I had all the time in the world, I would see a show every week! I love family outings to the dog park or dog beach. I love to spend time with my 3 sisters and my adorable nieces and nephews. I love tea parties and watching princess movies with Kadence. Unlike all of my co workers, who love hiking, I am passionate about the indoors.
What is your favorite thing about Malibu and the surrounding area? I love how the ocean looks different each day. My favorite days are when the clouds are dark and moody, but the sun shines bright rays onto the water.
Why are you excited to be a part of Malibu Pacific Church? I love being part of a church that cares so deeply for children. Kids aren't just welcomed here, they are treasured here! I love that our Worship Director, Josh, lets them crawl up to the stage. I love watching them sing and dance during worship every Sunday!
What are you passionate about? My biggest passion is for children to know their worth in the eyes of the Lord! I strongly believe that if every child could experience the love of Jesus at a young age, the world would be a better place! I am passionate about justice for children- specifically for the 35,000 children in the Los Angeles Foster System. I am convinced that though the foster crisis is big, the church is bigger! I know that the Lord is using MPC to make an impact in the lives of children all around the world.
